Christmas Time in the Mountains

Christmas time 2011will definitely be a White Christmas for our family.

I live in the mountains just east of Albuquerque, hence the name of this area of several mountain ranges is called the East Mountains by those who live in the relative flatlands (5000 ft) of Albuquerque.  The Sandia Mountains tower to 10,678 ft. on the east side of New Mexico's largest city.   I live at an elevation of 6900 ft. on the southern end of the Monte Largo Mountains. The first day of winter brought us more than a foot of snow on top of a previous foot of snow.  The snow continues to fall today.  The weather forecast promises sunshine for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

I awoke this morning to 2 feet of snow

The wind had blown huge drifts off my roof and around the house

My backyard

My driveway

My street

The bird feeders were overcrowded

I think we'll stay home and wait for Santa Claus.  Cheers!

Merry Christmas!

  2. It's interesting to see photos of my fellow Sandia Mountain neighbor. They look the same, but not the same, if you know what I mean. :)
Your house looks so cozy inside with all your beautiful decorations and woodstove keeping you warm. This is perfect weather for Christmas :)

Just wanted to say....Merry Christmas from Lisa and the entire herd at the Laughing Orca Ranch!!
