First Snowfall

November 10th was cold and windy, then the snow started to fall in light flurries.  The temperature remained 45 degrees well into the afternoon, then the mercury started falling.  By 5 PM it was 32 degrees F. I had started a wood fire in the stove early in the day, to ward off the chill.  Now it was a toasty 72 degrees F. inside. The kind of day to curl up with a blanket on the sofa and read. I spent the afternoon finishing Cormac McCarthy's No Country for Old MenI know, definitely not an upper, but good writing and a page turner to boot.  Then I began to delve into Wally Lamb's The Hour I First Believed and have found it engaging.   The topic thus far deals with personal relationships in the days leading up to the Columbine High School massacre where the main character is a teacher and his wife is a school nurse. Malcolm (my daughter's boy friend) had given Ron and I these two books to read. This weekend was made for reading novels.  My husband preferred football.  So in our separate rooms, we spent the day in a quiet welcoming of Winter. This morning I awoke to find about an inch of snow had fallen.  Blue skies were to the east and gray clouds to the west, promising a mixed day.  The temperature had fallen to 24 degrees F.  Here are photos of our first snow fall for winter 2012-2013 at El Cheapo Ranchito in Sandia Park, New Mexico, USA.
