There I go again
dreaming with one eye open.
Credulous thoughts taken seriously,
consuming new ideas fatuously.
Funny how I can believe
in things that will never be.
Perhaps that is the way
humans do persist,
when finally we see
what we may have missed
in lives lived with endless yearning
we now must face the season's turning.
