Summertime and the Birds Come to Visit

Life doesn't have to be stressful.  Sit down and watch nature and you will find a peace similar to meditation.  I love watching the birds.  Wild Bird Watching has some good pictures and information about watching birds.  Here are pictures of birds who have stopped by to visit recently:

Ladder-backed Woodpecker (male):

Black chinned hummingbird (male):

Lately, non-hummingbirds have been coming to the nectar feeder.  Never saw that before.  Cindy's post on Wild Bird Watching documents similar behavior.

Great Horned Owl on my back fence in Albuquerque:

Although I have not taken pictures of them, other birds who have come by recently are Roadrunners, Finches, Spotted Towhees, Pine Siskins, Lesser Goldfinches, Robins, Pinon Jays, Scrub Jays, Cooper's Hawks, White-winged Doves, Chickadees, Pigeons, Chipping Sparrows, Curved Bill Thrashers,  and quite a few more.
