Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta Concludes 47th Annual Event

Each October in New Mexico hundreds of hot air balloons fill the skies of Albuquerque. The 47th Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta.  Thousands of visitors from all over the world join New Mexicans for this week long fall fiesta. Here are some pictures from this year's fiesta.

There is a daily mass ascension of nearly 500 balloons early each morning. On October 6th they landed in the northeast heights of Albuquerque.  We never made it to the Balloon park so we went to Domingo Baca Park and that is where the balloons landed.

My grand-daughters, Rosemerry and Melody, enjoyed watching the balloons land at Domingo Baca Park in NE Albuquerque

My daughter, Mary, and her daughters joined me October 6th.

On Friday, October 12th,  my friend, Mary Anne, and I met at the Coronado Mall Park and Ride at 5:30AM and got to the Balloon Fiesta Park for the Special Shapes Rodeo by 6:30AM.  We saw the laser light show, by-passed the long lines for breakfast burritos,  and then the lead balloon with the American flag went up to the strains of the national Anthem.  About 8AM we headed to the Mayor's Breakfast for burritos,  green chile stew and coffee.
