Cienega Canyon Wildflowers in June 2019

California Sister butterfly on a Wild Plum Blossom
It's summer again and I am starting my 10th year leading wildflower walks for the Sandia District of the Cibola National Forest.  I am one of nine volunteers who lead walks in the Sandia and Manzanita Mountains just east of Albuquerque, New Mexico.  We had an enthusiastic group of 28 last Saturday (June 8) as Tom and I led a walk up Cienega Canyon.  The Cienega spring is flowing with a strong stream down through the canyon and beautiful wildflowers and butterflies surround us as we walked slowly up the trail in the morning.
