First Snow of the Season

We got our first significant snow in the East Mountains near Albuquerque, New Mexico,  this weekend.  By this morning, we already had 6 1/2 inches of snow and it was still snowing.  I shoveled snow for an hour in the 17 degree (Fahrenheit) weather and tried to make a snowman but the snow was so dry and light, I could not compact it.  I hope this is the beginning of a good winter season with lots of precipitation (unlike last year).

The finches, chickadees, pine siskin, titmice, and white winged doves arrived at the feeders for breakfast

The sun is showing itself and the snow has momentarily stopped falling

The wood stove is warming up the house this morning

The Christmas Cactus is in bloom

The dining table awaits Thanksgiving dinner later this week when family will gather
